A finger is a small price to pay

Case in Point

Why do people like to touch animals? Or do they? From personal experience with pets, I know I have figuratively climbed mountains just to *boop* a cat’s nose.

Also: unicorns and I guess horses. People really like touching them, right?

Is this mostly instinct or learned behavior? If I saw a big cuddly bear and had never been read the story of Goldilocks as a child, would I want to bury my face in its warm albeit musky pelt? Actually, I think I would kinda want to right now anyway.
